SPRING STYLE
6 Nov 2015
Natalie Cantell isn’t your typical spring racing type gal, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love to dress up when the sun starts to shine. Nat takes us through her picks from our latest collection and shows us that racewear styling can be more than just being track-side.
"I am not the traditional Spring Racing Girl. I’ve been to the races exactly one time and only with the promise of an open bar and five course lunch. My dresses aren’t often short and rarely floral, I don’t look good in 99% of hats, I don’t love the feeling of my heels sinking into the lawn. But I do love accessories.
My favourite accessories are always the most versatile - rose gold pieces that are chic by day and elegant by night. Box clutches with a different look to each side. Statement earrings that can dangle or have the length removed to sit snug at the lobe. Necklaces that can be worn two ways, with good-girl-pearls or a tougher look on the flip side. Hats and eyewear that are perfect for the beach but can also transition a glamorous look into something more day-time friendly.
The new season at MIMCO, designed especially with Spring Racing in mind, works just as well off the tracks. And for anyone like me - who goes to Melbourne for the cafes, not the Cup, and is only just beginning to find her way to appropriate race wear that doesn’t feel like a total departure from her usual style - there’s plenty to love. If I do happen to make it to the fancy tents, or the track, I’ll be races-ready. No fascinator required."
