ADVENTURE AWAITS
16 Nov 2015
Whether she’s hiking in Yosemite National Park or discovering the hidden laneways of Italy, Nicola Easterby can’t help but get lost; her home has become wherever she may be
(and where her camera is). On her Summer Wishlist: accessories fit for adventure and an endless summer road trip.
I first got hit with the travel bug when I was...
About fifteen, although I think I’ve had wanderlust pulsing through my veins from the moment I was born! My first overseas adventure was a two-week mission trip to Cambodia when I was in high school. It was the most eye-opening experience of my life, and it proved to be a real defining moment for me. Through this trip I discovered my love for other cultures and the wonder of the unknown.
The most incredible place I’ve ever visited is…
A magical little town in Switzerland called Lauterbrunnen. Everything about this place makes you feel like you are stepping into a fairy-tale – snow-capped mountains, cascading waterfalls, quaint wooden chalets and constant tinkling of cow’s bells.
The next place on my list is…
South America! Excluding Antarctica, it’s the last continent I have to step foot on. I’m so excited to experience an entire new set of culture, history, landscapes and way of life.
My ultimate Summer Wish is...
To feel like I’ve thoroughly explored New Zealand. I’ve been here on and off for two years and I don’t want to take this place for granted, it’s so insanely beautiful. It takes a while for the New Zealand summer to heat up, so as soon as there is enough sunshine, I’m loading my friends in the car and we are going on a road trip!
If a song played every time I walked into a room, it’d be…
Step Out by Joze Gonzalez. Every time I hear it I feel ready to embark on an adventure.
The woman I wish I could meet is…
Audrey Hepburn. Not only was she one of the most iconic actresses of all times, oozing style and grace, she was also a really inspirational woman! I would love to sit down with her and discuss her time as a UNICEF ambassador and hear about her travels and the work she did in many third world nations.
The three people I wish I could go travelling with are...
Hamish Blake, purely for comical amusement. Graham Hughes, the British adventurer who visited all 201 countries without using a plane, and then I’d want to take one of my best friends along for the ride.
Adventure means…
Throwing away the map, letting your hair down, saying yes to everything, getting your feet dirty, breathing in fresh air, climbing mountain, befriending strangers, exploring an unknown city, and letting yourself feel ALIVE.
