MIMCO ON LOCATION
12 Jul 2016
The locations were vast and breathtaking; the team was spirited, confident and free; the campaign is one-of-a-kind.
Let us take you to outback South Australia, behind the scenes of our latest campaign with photographer Trevor King, make-up artist Nigel Stanislaus and of course our muse, Charlee Fraser.
TREVOR KING
When are you most in your element?
I think when I’m with nature. I surf a lot and I love the water, but just being out away from the city and the crowds of people is really nice. You really get to feel the power of Mother Nature.
Tell us about your affiliation with travel and adventure…
My journey to date has involved tonnes of travel and experiencing different cultures, locations, and continents. My parents were sailors, so they raised my brother and I on a boat and when I started high school we moved back to Canada. After school I moved to Australia for 15 years and travelled everywhere from Asia to the Caribbean. I started studying photography in Melbourne and then moved to Sydney and have been travelling pretty much everywhere ever since.
What was it like shooting with Charlee and MIMCO?
Out of all the shoots I’ve ever done in my career, this has got to be one of the best. It’s out in one of my favourite places in the world and the MIMCO team has been amazing to work with. We had so much fun and everyone is really good at what they do.
I have wanted to shoot Charlee for years now and I’m so happy it’s happened on this shoot, because she’s amazing; she’s beautiful, she’s so professional and she’s a dream to work with. She also seems very natural and at ease out here and it really comes through in the photos.
NIGEL STANISLAUS
Tell us about the makeup look for the Mistress Elemental campaign shoot…
We took inspiration from the beauty of Australia; the colour palette is from the Earth, the trees, the mountains and the sky.
What did you enjoy most about being on set with MIMCO?
I’ve been a friend of MIMCO for a while now and have done a few campaigns, but this one is really special to me, being out there in those epic locations was such a treat. Also the team, I could not have asked for a better one. I’ve worked all over the world and it has to be one of the best sets I’ve ever been on.
What are your top three travel tips?
1. Be prepared for anything.
2. Pack wisely, even though I still don’t know how to do that very well...
3. Bring your own snacks!
